A feature-length interpretation of the director's
internationally acclaimed short documentary Life
In Fog (an IFVC production). This film focuses
on a boy named Ayoub and his brothers and sisters
in the remote area of Kurdestan. When their father,
who smuggles goods along the Iraqi border, is
killed by a mine, Ayoub is forced to take up where
his father left off. Their troubles are not made
any easier by the fact that their brother Madi,
who is handicapped both physically and mentally,
desperately needs an operation. This heart-wrenching
film gives a glimpse into the lives of a people
little known in the Western world. Winner of the
Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival,
2000.
