| New York-
Run by Bahman Maghsoudlou, a film producer
and scholar from Iran, the International Film
& Video Center gives over a third of the
video rentalbins in its small midtown Manhattan
duplex to foreign films. A large mail-order
business in video sales, in the United States
and abroad, really drives the store; this
means that what you see in the rental bins
is only part of what you can rent.
I asked if the store had Harold Llyod's
Freshman, a film that video stores seem
never to carry. It had a sealed copy for
sale, and happily opened it on the spot,
adding it to the rental stock.
